This That & Wax started at our kitchen table in Rockaway, NJ, where we’re not just business partners — we’re a couple in recovery and survivors of domestic violence raising our two fifth graders together as siblings, who are often the toughest critics when we’re choosing and naming our scents. We hand‑pour every candle and soap ourselves acknowledging and paying tribute to those who suffer or have overcome domestic violence, addiction, mental health, PTSD, trauma or any illness. We place meaningful encouragements and support on the inside — like hidden recovery and awareness coins, inscribed encouragement stones, and little messages you didn’t know you needed that you can keep long after the wax is gone. We’ve both been through treatment, court cases, and starting over more than once, and what motivates us is turning all of that into something special and practical for other people in recovery and/or mental health awareness. We are still running everything from home While raising our children, holding down jobs, and maintaining our own sobriety. We’ve both been through it, we’re still showing up and created This That & Wax as a reminder that your story isn”t over either.

It started as a way for us to be a voice for the recovery community, but ended up meaning and being so much more than that.
